Naturally, if an entrepreneur ends his or her business operations and switches from self-employment to regular employment, it is advisable to resign from the entrepreneurs' unemployment fund and join an employees’ unemployment fund. Transfer of fund membership must be accomplished during the first month of salaried employment. Thus, the minimum term of employment for the daily allowance fulfilled in the entrepreneurs' unemployment fund (AYT ja SYT) is retained in the employee's unemployment fund until the person meets the minimum term of employment for employees. This is called the period of post-employment coverage.
Those transferring to an employees’ unemployment fund are entitled to a protection period: if the paid work ends before the working time requirement of an employees’ unemployment fund is fulfilled, the employees’ unemployment fund will pay daily allowance in accordance with the regulations applicable to entrepreneurs. The prerequisite for the daily allowance is that the precondition for a minimum term of employment has been fulfilled as a member of an entrepreneurs' unemployment fund before the transfer of unemployment fund. If the entrepreneurs' unemployment fund has already paid daily allowance to the entrepreneur, the remainder of the 400 allowance days can be paid to him/her from the employees’ unemployment fund on the basis of the protection time.
