A parallel business name is the equivalent of the company’s business name in another language. Hence Yhtiö Oy can register a parallel business name in Swedish, Bolag Ab, and one in English, Company Ltd. Expressions in different languages must be similar in content. The parallel business name must be included in the articles of association of a limited liability company, the partnership agreement of a general and limited partnership, and in the rules of a cooperative.
A company can run part of its business under an auxiliary business name. For instance, a technochemical product manufacturer Chemikalix Ltd can sell detergents under the auxiliary business name Clean-up Store. For limited liability companies and cooperatives, introducing an auxiliary business name is subject to a decision by the Board of Directors.
You can notify the trade register of parallel and auxiliary business names, either using the basic notification or, later on, a notification of change.
