The objective of developing working life at workplaces is to identify the development needs of future work. The development of working life concerns the improvement of productivity, profitability and working life quality – not as separate aspects, but simultaneously, strengthening one another, and renewing the operating culture at the workplace.
The success of a workplace is created by developing health and well-being at work, competence, trust and cooperation as well as innovativeness. By reconciling these aspects and developing them in a balanced manner, productivity and the quality of working life can be improved.
All workplaces, regardless of their industry and size, can develop new operating methods in their own development path. The aim is that all workplaces would achieve at least a good basic level.
A good basic level means that the basics are in order and that everyday work and attending to duties run smoothly.
At a developer level, development efforts are first carried out through separate projects, then through a versatile, systematic approach.
A forerunner level is characterised by excellent or world-class products, services, operational concepts, work communities and their continuous development.
A Development Path test has been developed to evaluate the target level of a workplace. Using the test is free of charge, and all data will be treated as confidential. The test is suitable for workplaces with at least five employees. The test will be available on the My Enterprise Finland service that provides the most important services to an entrepreneur securely in a single package. The implementation of a workspace requires strong identification. The My Enterprise Finland workspace can be set up by a person who is entitled to sign for a company. The right will be checked automatically from the Finnish Patent and Registration Office’s register when a company’s workspace is being established. Another person may also be authorised to use the workspace through the Tax Administration’s KATSO service (vero.fi).
After receiving the results of the Development Path test:
Creating future workplaces requires hard work. They will not appear of their own accord. The management, supervisors and employees of all workplaces can participate in building the working life of the future and creating workplaces capable of renewal and in which they would themselves enjoy working.
The results of the Development Path test indicate the most important development areas that should currently be focused on at the workplace. It is recommended to appoint persons in charge of development items. They are responsible for developing solutions and improvements. It is also recommended to set up a follow-up date when results will be reviewed together. The Development Path test can be taken as many times as it seems to be necessary and useful, for example, every six months.
The tool can be used for monitoring the progress of the workplace on the Development Path and comparing results to previous results. Learn more about various expert services and funding opportunities for working life development on the website for Developing working life.
